New Rochelle Police Engage In High Speed Pursuit After Car Break-Ins At Honda Dealership; Suspect Killed in Crash

HondaTheftCrashBronxOne man is dead and another seriously injured after a high speech chase which began in New Rochelle and ended near Co-Op City in the Bronx early Monday morning. The vehicle driven by a suspect collided with parked cars on Givan Avenue at the Palmer Avenue intersection. A passenger in the vehicle was killed.

New Rochelle Police engaged in a high speed pursuit early Monday morning of a Silver Nissan Maxima with New Jersey dealer tags after the people in the car were observed in the Honda Dealership lot.

The pursuit began on Palmer Avenue in New Rochelle and continued to I-95 southbound from Cedar Street from there they went south on I-95 to exit 15 got off the exit made a U-turn got back on I-95 southbound with New Rochelle Police in pursuit with speeds reaching 100 mph.

New Rochelle Fire Department and Police kept busy.

The New Rochelle Fire Department was busy early Friday a call came in at 1283 Weaver street about a person burned after a explosion of a underground tank that was being removed from the site.
Around the same time the fire department got a call from Con Edison to respond to 193 Webster avenue after a gas line was cut by a contractor at the building.New Rochelle Police had to close down Webster Avenue between Washington and Union Avenues while the fire department vented the building and Con Edison shut the gas line down.
A homeowner at 114 Stevension blvd. returned home to see a male running out there back door police were searching the area for a suspect.

New Rochelle Downtown Tests New Meters

The downtown of New Rochelle changed how people park and pay for parking on Monday morning.The city installed 25 new meter friendly meters.
The new meters except credit cards,debit cards ,and nickels,dimes and quarters.
The city is testing meters from 3 different companies,in all 75 meters will be put to the test in the downtown for 3 months.
Please let Talk Of The Sound know how you like or dislike the meters?
Correction-- The new meters that have been installed only except quarters sorry for the error.

Multiple Cars Damaged On Centre Avenue

Many car owners will wake up Wednesday morning to find out that there cars were damaged overnight.
New Rochelle Police received a call from a concerned citizen about a person doing damage to cars in a public lot located at the corner of Centre Avenue and Grove Avenue.
Police responded and found multiple cars with damage to there hoods.
A description of the suspect was put out and a person was stopped near Warren Street and Grove Avenue,New Rochelle Police arrested that person because of drugs and not for the damage to the cars pending a further investigation.
New Rochelle Police were interviewing local business owners in the area for further information.

Assault At New Roc

A person was assaulted in front of Modell's sporting goods located in New Roc City around 3:30 pm Thursday afternoon.
New Rochelle Police are looking for a lite skinned male black 5'9 in height and weigh's 160 pounds last seen wearing black pants and a black shirt. Police are searching downtown streets for the suspect.
Update= Police now have more info on the suspect he has changed his wear to a white shirt blue jeans and glasses police have also obtained the name of the suspect.

Thank you for reading my post's on Talk Of The Sound. I love the city of New Rochelle and only wish it well. Yes i strongly disagree with how things are done in this city and i made my feeling's known on this site.
Thank you Mr.Cox for letting me do that.

New Rochelle Business Has Windows Smashed


The Golden Krust Restaurant located at 10 Anderson street had a front plate window broken and a front door glass broken Thursday night after two males had a fight in front of the restaurant.

New Rochelle police were on the scene quickly and caught the suspects who were believed to be related.

The person who was smashed against the door and the window paine suffered a deep cut to the arm and was rushed to sound shore medical center.

There was a large amount of blood on the sidewalk area outside the restaurant and also in the restaurant table area.

The New Rochelle Fire Department was requested to the scene for a wash down.
New Rochelle Po;ice estimate the damage to be in the $2000.00 range.

House Garage Struck By Lighting In New Rochelle

A Garage at 25 Cherry Lawn Blvd.was struck by lighting around 7:34 am Monday morning and has started a fire on the garage roof.
THE first engine 25 on the scene has reported heavy smoke coming from roof of the garage and has stretched a line to put the fire out.

Update 7:53am car 2301 reporting fire is knocked down checking for extension.

Car 2302 reporting roof has been opened.
no injuries reported

Update 8:03 am fire is under control and units are venting the garage area.

Basement Fire Destroys Two New Rochelle Business"s

A early morning fire in a basement located at 601 North Avenue has put two New Rochelle business owner's on hard times. La Guadalupana Grocery & Meat Market and The Ionian Grill and Cafe suffered heavy smoke damage to the upper floor. Their basements were destroyed. The fire did not spread to the restaurant area of the Ionian Grill.

New Rochelle firefighters responded to an automatic alarm sounded around 4:15 am Monday morning. Upon arriving at the scene firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the basement and from the storefronts. New Rochelle fireman went to work quickly to stop the blaze from spreading to a apartment building next door.

The chief on the scene called a 2nd alarm and all New Rochelle units responded along with mutual aid from Eastchester, Mount Vernon and Yonkers. In all, twenty-five firefighters were called to the scene and fought the fire for about an hour.

Fire Chief Lou DiMeglio said the fire was not suspicious. He said the fire broke out in the basement of La Guadalupana in a storage area. DiMeglio estimated the damaged to be about $40,000.

One New Rochelle fireman is being treated for possible heat related issue's.

North Avenue is closed both north and southbound from Fifth avenue to Treno Street.

Some old time New Rochelleans will remember this was the former location of GARY'S Barleycorn, a world-famous college hangout.

Transformer's Blowing Up In New Rochelle

So far two transformer's have exploded on the street's in New Rochelle.
The first one is at 34 Potter's lane and the second one is at the the corner of Weaver and Stratton road.
Some home's in these area's could be without power.

Another Assault Downtown New Rochelle

New Rochelle Police were called around 1:00am Wednesday morning to area around North Avenue and Garden Street after a male hispanic was attacked by 3-4 male blacks.
The victum could give little information on his attackers as he was pushed and punched and kicked to the ground by his attackers.
The victum was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center for head and eye injury's by ambulance.
It is not known was was taken from the victim and if any weapons were used. DEVELOPING-----
