Astorino Announces $5,000 For Hudson Valley Honor Flight For Veterans

WESTCHESTER, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino announced last week that Westchester County will help send 75 Westchester World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., thanks to $5,000 from the County Veterans Service Agency. The money will go to the Hudson Valley Honor Flight (HVHF), a not-for-profit group that is underwriting the one-day trip leaving from Westchester County Airport this fall.

UPDATE (raw notes): Sam Zherka was arraigned before Judge Lisa Margaret Smith this afternoon at the U.S. Courthouse in White Plains, NY as over two-dozen friends and family looked on. Zherka was denied bail, will be kept overnight, detention hearing tomorrow at 11 am, US Attorney says Zherka agreed to 36-46 month prison term to settle case. Zherka was arrested by U.S. Marshalls at his home this morning, FBI was on scene at Zherka's office in New Rochelle today.
