A Grand Jury convened by the Westchester District Attorney in White Plains, NY has indicted two New Rochelle High School students for Attempted Armed Robbery - 2nd Degree. According to New Rochelle Police, the pair, Jermaine McCleod, 19, and Rashad Simpson,17 are alleged to have confronted a student in the hallways student at New Rochelle High School, indicated they had a weapon and demanded the students wallet. When the student refused and attempted to walk away, Simpson moved to block the way of the student, preventing him from leaving. The incident ended when a school district employee happened upon the scene.
The incident occurred on February 9th, just a day after McCleod had been caught stealing money from a cash register at the school cafeteria. McCleod and Simpson are well-known to police and prosecutors.Read more

Young Middle School made a series of phone calls to school staff on Sunday afternoon requesting they report to the school building by 8:00 a.m. Monday morning for a meeting scheduled to begin at 8:10 a.m. with Schools Superintendent Richard Organisciak and Principal Anthony Bongo.
The topic will likely be the arrest Friday of Jose Martinez, former Administrative Dean at Isaac. E. Young Middle School and most recently Assistant Principal at Jefferson Elementary School. Martinez was arrested on charges of Sexual Molestation -- 2nd Degree.

Young Middle School, has built up one of the most impressive resumes in the City School District of New Rochelle, if by "impressive" you mean the most incompetent. Mr. Bongo is a man not fit to run a Burger King yet he runs one of the largest schools in New Rochelle thanks in large part to the "charity" of his father Anthony Bongo, Sr. of PAB Construction whose "charitable giving" to the New Rochelle Fund for Excellence and various government officials throughout New Rochelle is so widely "appreciated" by the powers that be that his unqualified son was given the position of Assistant Principal at Isaac E. Young Middle school where he was later promoted to the Principalship.Read more

UPDATE: Friday March 25 2:30 PM New Rochelle Police Press Conference. Former Assistant Principal Jose Martinez,38, was arrested and charged with Sexual Molestation-2nd Degree, accused of oral sex and sexual contact with a 14-year old student at Isaac Young Middle School up until June 2010. As first reported on Talk of the Sound last week, Martinez abruptly resigned his position as Assistant Principal of Jefferson Elementary School, a position to which he was promoted over the summer. He began serving as the Jefferson AP last September.
Martinez is in custody of the New Rochelle Police Department and will be arraigned this afternoon at New Rochelle City Court. Martinez was arrested at his home in Brentwood, NY in Long Island. Police said Martinez expressed "shock" at his arrest.Read more
