The New Rochelle Public Library’s summer family film series, Disney Hit Parade, concludes on Monday, August 6th, at 6:00 pm, with Escape to Witch Mountain. The 1975 film stars Kim Richards, Eddie Albert, Ray Milland, and Donald Pleasence, and runs 97 minutes.
In the movie, two young orphans with psychic powers are lured to the mansion of evil millionaire Aristotle Bolt (Milland), who plans to exploit their clairvoyance for his own gain. The children escape and befriend a friendly camper (Albert) who helps them unravel the mystery of their origin.
There is no charge for the film, which is shown on the big screen of the air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater.Read more
A rich kaleidoscope of dance pieces from different ethnic regions of China will be performed by members of the New York Chinese Cultural Center on Tuesday, July 31st, at 7:00 pm, as part of the library’s 29th annual International Music and Dance series. Dressed in full, traditional Chinese costumes, the dancers will perform “China Patterns”, a fun and engaging program that includes the Ribbon Dance, Sword Dance, Tibetan Dance and more. NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library’s family film series, Disney Hit Parade, continues on Monday, July 30th at 6:00 pm, with the 1975 film, The Apple Dumpling Gang. The comedy stars Bill Bixby, Susan Clark, Don Knotts, and Tim Conway.
The story of the film involves three young orphans who stumble upon a huge golden nugget. They join forces with two bumbling outlaws (Knotts and Conway) to stage a robbery of the gold to fend off the greedy townspeople. Little do they know that a surly gang of sharpshooters plans to beat them to the draw!
The color film runs 100 minutes, and is shown on the big screen of the air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater. There is no charge.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library’s “Dream Big!” theater programs for Wednesday, August 1st will feature programs for films for the younger children at 10:30 am, and a live show for children ages 5 and older at 2:00 pm.
Curious George – “Sweet Dreams will be shown in the Ossie Davis Theater Films, beginning at 10:30 am. This compilation of films stars the beloved children's character Curious George through over 90-minutes worth of adventures. The eight episodes include "Night of the Wiener Dog", "Movie House Monkey", Say Goodnight, George”, “Hundley's Great Escape”, “The Big Sleepy”, “Red Sky at Night”, “Monkey's Delight”, “Curious George and the Invisible Sound”, and “Water to Ducks”. Music and dance of the Middle East will be performed at the New Rochelle Public Library on Tuesday, July 24th, at 7:00 pm, as part of the library’s 29th annual International Music and Dance series. The program is geared for families and individuals of all ages.
Aszmara, an internationally-renowned oriental dancer and local belly dance instructor, will present a number of traditional dances with origins in the Middle East. Armenian musicians Haig Manoukian on the oud, Souren Baronain on G-clarinet, and Mal Stein on dumbek, will perform the music for the fully costumed dances, as well as selections of Armenian, Turkish and Arabic traditional and folkloric music.
Admission is free and limited to the capacity of the Ossie Davis Theater, on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6:45 pm.
The sounds of the seven-piece Latin Grupo Vibe will transform New Rochelle’s Library Green into a festive dance party on the evening of Thursday, July 19, as the popular BID Music on the Green series kicks-off its summer 2012 season in downtown New Rochelle. Three free concerts, beginning at 7:00 pm, will be sponsored by New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) on consecutive Thursday evenings.
