Carnival Of Souls To Guest on WVOX'S Metal Mayhem This Friday!
New York metal band Carnival Of Souls will be Matt O'Shaughnessy live guests this Friday at 8:10pm on 1460 am and wvox.com worldwide.
Carnival of Souls was founded in the early 2000's by bassist, Gene Hunter and vocalist, Dee (Damien) Hunter. They then added guitarist Rob "the Machine" DeForge who they knew from other bands, and lead vocalist, Lee Cancela. Closing out the circuit on drums was Ron Hunter.
COS went big from the start and began playing packed out shows in local theaters and clubs on the Island and around the tri-state area.
Pretty soon Carnival of Souls found themselves touring and opening up for such well known bands as: Twisted Sister, Queensryche, Motorhead, and Anthrax. Vocalist, Dee recalls her fondest memory being at a special jam show in California. At this event many different members of bands came together just to rock out. Carnival of Souls opened the show, and some of the more famous musicians watched them and complimented on how much they enjoyed the show.

When I became a County Legislator, a former legislator once told me, "You don't always have to hit home runs - singles and doubles are important too." Last night, I thought I hit a single, but later learned I really had an extra base hit!
Last year, I was approached by friends from the New Rochelle Arts Council. They mentioned that St. Gabriel's Church in New Rochelle, a mostly Hispanic Church, was trying to put on a Spanish language version of the great play Godspell, but was having trouble with funding. The roadblock was paying for royalty rights. My friends at the Arts Council did not have the funding available to help them, and asked if I or the county could help.
Guess what my favorite play is? Yes, Godspell! My family loves to listen to the soundtrack, and I have enjoyed the play about ten times. It is such a positive presentation of my religious faith. I immediately said YES. St. Gabriel's was so excited about this play, and it just had to happen. It was also important for city and county officials to step in and recognize that New Rochelle's growing Hispanic community is part of the artistic culture of our city.Read more

WVOX'S "Metal Mayhem" to feature Indestructible Noise Command's Founder and guitarist - Erik Barath - live this Friday, May 6th at 8:10pm on 1460 am and worldwide on wvox.com.
In 1985, Connecticut’s Erik Barath and Dennis Gergely birthed I.N.C. out of the frustration and annoyance arisen by the cookie-cutter bands plastering videos on the sole cable station to bring music alive and deliver it to the masses, MTV. This hunger to create more than the norm was what harnessed Erik and Dennis’ energy to form Indestructible Noise Command.
“We were angry and wild,” states guitarist Erik Barath. “[That music] didn’t represent what we were feeling. Aggressive Thrash Metal was our outlet and our truth."
The still relatively new Indestructible Noise Command crew recorded a demo tape in 1986 and immediately started booking bigger shows, appearing on stage with the likes of Exodus, Megadeth and King Diamond. Less than a year later and only six months after their high school graduation, I.N.C. were signed to Giant Records to begin work on their first full length album, Razorback, which was released in 1987.Read more
