UPDATED: Seal PHOTOS and VIDEO Submitted.
There were reports yesterday of a sick seal at the New Rochelle Marina. Several readers reported seeing news helicopters hovering over that area; the seal report is why they were there. The seal was not visible to the news crews and there are some reports that the seal has left the area. None of this is official but readers who are near the water are encouraged to keep an eye out. A beer on Talk of the Sound at Dudley's St. Patrick's Day party for the first to capture the seal on camera!Read more

Many readers of the blog may be familiar with me for my contributions here. (Currently, I serve as calendar editor, contributor & Bob's wacky sidekick on the weekly Talk of the Sound Radio program), but, of recent, I've ventured into the blogging world with a solo effort.
Unlike this publication, I'm not looking to break news - instead, http://matthewfunti.me mainly offers silly musings and comical graphics woven together into pieces with larger central themes. Other times I slap together some random thoughts, links and assorted nonsense I've been compelled to share.Read more

The City of New Rochelle's official Christmas Tree went dark over the weekend as thieves made off with the light bulbs that had adorned the tee. In a daring and despicable act of holiday humbug right out of Dr. Seuss's The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, the tree was stripped bare.
The tree has been shining each night since the annual holiday lighting ceremony on December 3rd. The event sponsored by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Business Improvement District and the City of New Rochelle Parks Department celebrated the Holiday season for all faiths. Rabbi Wohl, Father Francis and Reverend Wearver spoke of the significance of the lighting-up the darkness in this time of seasonal observances.
