The floats for the parade need to be pulled out of the Ward Acres Barn, dusted off and readied for the parade next week. If you can give an hour of your time, they would appreciate your stopping by at 10 AM to pitch in.

Attention veterans, service members – and their families: Come to Westchester County’s 5th annual Veterans Appreciation Day and Memorial Day Tribute at Playland, Sunday, May 27.
The event, sponsored by Westchester County, runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Westchester Police Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Corps will perform at the main gate at noon. At 1:30 p.m., County Executive Robert P. Astorino will deliver a tribute in memory of those who have lost their lives in defense of the United States. There will a helicopter and Osprey Flight demonstration provided by the U.S. Marine Corps at 2 p.m., weather permitting.

The George T. Davis Funeral Home is hosting a trip to Calverton National Cemetery for those families or veterans who do not get an opportunity to visit their loved ones or friends.
This FREE trip will take place on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. The bus will depart from 14 LeCount Place, New Rochelle, NY at 8:15am and will return approximately 4:30pm. A ceremony will host special guest speaker, Commissioner Terrance C. Holliday; Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs New York City and Retired Colonel in the United States Air Force, patriotic songs, folding of the flag, a dove release, Taps and more, will be held at the Assembly area of the cemetery. This year we will also honor those indigent veterans who have no family. After which family and friends will visit the graves of their loved ones.
A continental breakfast will be served at George T. Davis Funeral Home between 7:15am and 8:00am. A box lunch will be provided on the bus at Calverton National Cemetery.Read more

The organizers of the parade will be holding an open meeting for all those interested to volunteer in any capacity to assist with the parade. The meeting will take place at 8 p.m. on Monday 7th at 8:00 p.m.
