NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Astorino and Pace University launch 3rd annual competition with pep rally and app design workshops

Over 275 students from tri-state region to compete in app development contest

WHEN:

Friday, February 3

12:45 p.m. – Pep rally begins with marching band, Westchester Knicks Dancers and student teams being announced onto center court

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Hands-on, mobile app design workshops

WHAT:

Over 275 students from 30 high schools and 10 colleges are registered to compete in the 3rd annual #WestchesterSmart Mobile App Development Bowl, which kicks off Friday with a pep rally, marching band, the Westchester Knicks Dancers and tech workshops. This year the contest has even gone international, with a team competing from Scotland. Presented by Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino and Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, the competition challenges students to create apps that will improve the quality of life for people age 65 and older. Teams will present their final apps at Pace University on April 28. Cash prizes, tech gear and paid internships are all up for grabs. Winning teams will also work with Pace to post their apps on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
