NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A year removed from its second CYO state championship in three years, the eighth-grade team at the Lower School is making another playoff push. Except this year, the team has company with the fourth and fifth-grade teams also reaching postseason play. You can catch all our hardwood Gaels in action this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-21, all at the Upper School.
The fourth-grade team tips off at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, against Immaculate Conception of nearby Tuckahoe. The Lower School comes in as the third seed, having gone 8-4 in the regular season. The winner will play St. Patrick's of Bedford on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 4:45 p.m.
Our second-seeded fifth graders will take on St. Gregory's at 6 p.m. on Feb. 20. Those Gaels went 9-3 during the regular season. The winner plays the very next day against All Saints at 7 p.m.
The eighth-grade boys begin defense of their 2015 CYO state title as the third seed on Feb. 21, at 7 p.m., against All Saints. The victor would play the Resurrection vs. Holy Name of New Rochelle winner on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. The Lower School varsity went 9-3 in divisional play.
