NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Alfred John Raffio Sr., a beloved member of the New Rochelle community and U.S. veteran, passed away on January 10, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE at the age of 85. Mr. Raffio was born on May 6, 1931 in New Rochelle, NY to parents Emilio Raffio and Carmellia Raffio Spalleno. Mr. Raffio was employed by the Ursuline School of New Rochelle for many years, touching the lives of countless students, teachers and faculty members with his humor, care, and pride of work. The Ursuline community held a special place in his heart. Prior to his time at the school, he honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by three sons: Emil J. Raffio of Delaware, Michael Raffio of Connecticut and John Raffio of Florida, as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Guadagnoli Raffio, and son, Alfred J. Raffio, Jr. After nearly a lifetime in New Rochelle, he retired in Delaware.
