NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On Saturday, October 7th, the New Rochelle Public Libraries will be offering a number of activities for New Rochelle’s annual Arts Fest.

The 102nd Annual Open Juried Exhibition of the New Rochelle Art Association, on view all day during library’s regular hours of operation from September 16 – October 22, will be celebrated with an Exhibit Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening, from 5:15 pm - 7:00 pm, in the lobby of the main library. The free event, open to the public, will feature live music by the popular dance band, Zero360, and refreshments.

Two family-oriented programs will also take place on Saturday, October 7th. At the Grand Market in Ruby Dee Park at Library Green, an Arts-Free-for-All will allow participants of all ages to create community art projects alongside local artists and teachers. Members of the New Rochelle Art Association will help with an amazing rock painting project and other artists will offer mural painting, making creations from recycled materials, and loads of creative fun.  In the event of rain, the craft activities will take place in the library’s meeting room. This is a free BID Family Day program, made possible by a partnership with the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with the Library, City School District and Parks & Recreation.

An “Adventure in Architecture” Workshop for Arts Fest  will take place in the Huguenot Children’s Library at 794 North Avenue, from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Children in Pre-K through grade 5 are invited to join the fabulous ArchFor Kids team and turn “found” materials into amazing structures! The Dobbs Ferry-based ArchForKids provides young people with dynamic, hands-on, minds-on learning experiences grounded in architecture, design, engineering and urban planning. They’ll bring all kinds of materials, guidance and enthusiasm to HCL for an afternoon charged with creative energy. This free event is made possible by the Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, to the capacity of the Lower Level of the Huguenot Children’s Library.
