Civil Service Watch: January 2014

After many years of operating behind closed doors, the New Rochelle Civil Service Commission held its first, televised public meeting on January 15, 2014.

The meeting was presided over by Civil Service Administrator Y. Jeanett Medina, Civil Service Commissioner Domenic Procopio, and Civil Service Commissioners Margaret Chadwick and Bishop Fetson Leak. It was held in Room B-1 at City Hall. The following occurred:

The minutes from the December 18, 2013 meeting were unanimously approved.

Regina O’Hara was provisionally appointed as Office Manager in the Building Department.

Several probationary appointment were also unanimously approved by the Commission. These included the appointment of Sue Hammel as Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief, Scott Bradley was appointed Deputy Fire Chief, Paul Ofano was appointed Fire Captain, and Ricardo Ramous was appointed Fire Lieutenant.

Additionally, six new Police Officers were appointed:

Daniel Mondanardo, Robert Johnson, Christine Walsh, John Mcare, Jay Mansfield, and Michael V. Martins.

The Police Captain and Police Lieutenant lists #2320 and #2319 respectively, were extended until February 18, 2015.

A Promotional and Open Competitive exam for the position of Director of Security for the school district was scheduled for February 8, 2014.

Lastly, promotional list for Dispatch Clerk #2346 was established.

The next meeting of the Civil Service Commission is scheduled for February 19, 2014.
