NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle on Saturday, March 2, 2013, will hold a ground-breaking conference on Imagination, Inquiry, & Innovation. This interdisciplinary institute brings together for the first time imaginative thinkers and practitioners from a broad range of fields to question the status quo, move ideas and best practices forward, and share innovative perspectives during a day-long series of presentations and workshops.
Actress, academic, and MacArthur Awards winner Anna Deavere Smith will give the keynote address on “Inquiry, Innovation, & the Possibilities for Social Imagination.”
Anna Deavere Smith has appeared on Showtime’s hit series Nurse Jackie and on NBC’s The West Wing. A professor at New York University, Smith’s most recent work deals with the subject of health care. Her one-woman show Let Me Down Easy ran for six months at New York’s Second State Theater.
The conference will also include a special performance of “Sleeping Beauty” by David Gonzalez and Daniel Kelly.
David Gonzalez is a poet, musician, and storyteller who uses rhymed verse to tell the classic fairy tale that features live music of Bach played by the award-winning composer and pianist, Daniel Kelly.
