NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Washington Monthly Magazine has ranked The College of New Rochelle (CNR) in the top 50 of its 2015 Master’s Universities Category in the areas of: service staff, courses, and financial aid support; and community service participation;  in the top 100 overall out of 673 colleges nationwide in the category; and  in the top 10 in New York State.

Washington Monthly rates schools based on their contribution in three broad categories: Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country); Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs); and Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students).

“The College is proud to once again be recognized as a top institution by Washington Monthly magazine for our efforts in both classroom learning and community service, which reflect our core values. These rankings reflect how we are optimizing the learning environment inside and outside of the classroom through enhancements to our technology infrastructure and communications, academic facilities, and new support programs,” noted Judith Huntington, President of The College of New Rochelle.

Ranked 25 for providing service to its students, the College’s strategic focus on this area is bringing incredible advantages to its students. The recent receipt of two significant federal grants totaling $14 million from the U.S. Department of Education—the largest in the College’s history—has revolutionized the College’s ability to deliver outstanding educational opportunities and achieve superior student outcomes at all of its campuses.

To increase operational effectiveness and accuracy in the last year, CNR launched a new website and intranet portal, and introduced the Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, in a shared-services collaboration with Marist College.  The National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) recognized CNR for developing this collaborative model with a 2015 Innovation Award for Resource Enhancement.

CNR also has the distinction of being the first private college in the Mid-Hudson region to be designated as a START-UP NY location. As part of this program, it will establish a private-public partnership with a business in the field of biotechnology which will provide internships and experiential learning opportunities to CNR students.

Being ranked 41 for community service reflects CNR’s five year inclusion in the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The College was recognized in its most recent award for its participation in three specific programs: Sonia Kovalevsky Math Day for High School Girls; the CNR Children’s Summer Program; and the Dominican Republic Art Therapy Service Trip.

Overall, CNR ranks 86 out of 673 colleges nationwide included in the Washington Master’s University Category.
