NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The search for the next New Rochelle High School principal is under way, and community members have been submitting their thoughts and suggestions about the position in a survey posted earlier this week on the City School District of New Rochelle website, www.nred.org.

The selection process began with 12 candidates chosen from a pool of applicants by Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Magda Parvey and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Joseph Williams.

The survey will be available through September 10. Later in the month, administrators will meet with focus groups comprised of students, parents, other community members and staff. Participants will offer their feedback on the question: "What are the qualities necessary for the next principal of New Rochelle High School?"

In October, candidates will engage in two more levels of interviews, first with a diverse committee of staff, parents, students and principals and later with a committee of principals, Dr. Parvey and Dr. Williams. The second round will include performance tasks.

Superintendent Dr. Brian Osborne, along with Dr. Parvey and Dr. Williams, will chose two or three finalists to present to the New Rochelle Board of Education, based on the interviews, community input and qualifications. The Board will interview the finalists in November, with a new principal expected to be hired in December.
