New York Yankees legend Ron “Louisiana Lightning” Guidry was on hand on May 11th to celebrate the 45th year of the Con Edison Yankees Kids program.

Gudiry took part in a ceremony to honor The Yankees Kids, 7 youngsters, one from each borough, Westchester County and one representing Orange and Rockland counties.

Westchester County was represented by Jon Miller, 16, of Pelham High School.

Yankees Kids are selected for their academic excellence, leadership and sportsmanship. Each youngster, between 8 and 16 years old, is nominated by a local civic organization.

Prior to the game with the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees Kids receive a Con Edison Yankees Kid jacket, an official certificate and other items.

For more than four decades, the Con Edison Yankees Kid Program has provided more than 4 million New York youths with free Yankees tickets.
