UPDATE 6/19/2015 10:00 AMNew York City Housing Authority ("NYCHA") issued a statement exclusively to Talk of the Sound that the group of teens was less than 100, details below.

 

responded today to a request for information from Talk of the Sound made early Thursday morning. Davis stated that the teens who were arrested on disorderly conduct charges were part of a group of "less than 100" from five Manhattan NYCHA developments. Davis added that the teens were accompanied by 17 or 18 staff members and that the event was not an official NYCHA event but rather an event organized by staff in the developments.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- It was “all hands on deck” last night for the New Rochelle Police Department as police responded to a large physical altercation involving dozens of people, most of them bused in from Brooklyn Manhattan.

Four teens arrested and charged with disoderely conduct, a violation.

No serious injuries were reported.

A group of 300 teens was brought by bus to New Rochelle by the New York City Housing Authority. A dispute among teens from different housing projects occurred on a bus coming to New Rochelle and then carried over at New Roc City.

The incident began about 9:15 p.m. in the Fuzion Funhouse game room on the top floor of New Roc City but spilled out into the plaza area as police moved in and began pushing people towards the escalators and out of the building.

Two dozen New Rochelle police vehicles were on scene, streets were closed and buses from Brooklyn lined up in the middle of the street to get a large group of teens out of the area.

Police received multiple calls as fights broke out in the Fuzion Funhouse, involving more than two dozen people. Less than 10 minutes later a group of about 25 people were milling about on the plaza level in front of the Marriott Residence Inn, described as a “modest disorder”.

UPDATE 6/19/2015 10:00 AM: Aja Davis, Deputy Press Secretary for the New York City Housing Authority ("NYCHA") responded today to a request for information from Talk of the Sound made early Thursday morning. Davis stated that the teens who were arrested on disorderly conduct charges were part of a group of "less than 100" from five Manhattan NYCHA developments. Davis added that the teens were accompanied by 17 or 18 staff members and that the event was not an official NYCHA event but rather an event organized by staff in the developments. Some NYCHA staff remained in New Rochelle while the 4 arrested teens were processed, until they were released.
