Dr. Anita Plutchik Obituary

NEW YORK, NY — Dr. Anita Plutchik passed away early Sunday morning, October 4 in Sarasota, Florida. She was 81. Born in Manhattan, New York, she received a B.S. from Syracuse University and an M.A. from Hofstra University. She later earned a Ph.D. in psychology. In 1962, she married Dr. Robert Plutchik, who predeceased her in 2006. They lived in New Rochelle, NY for over 25 years, before moving to Sarasota. Anita was involved in various organizations including Hadassah and Mensa. She had a life-long passion for learning and taking care of others. 

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Steve Silva and granddaughters Lauren and Michelle Silva; daughter and son-in-law Dr. Lori Plutchik and Paul Becker and grandson Joshua Becker; son Roy Plutchik, and fiancé Dr. Jack Polejes. 

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m. at Toale Brothers Funeral Home at 40 N. Orange Avenue Sarasota, FL. Donations in her memory may be made to Tidewell Hospice 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238 or the Jewish Housing Council 1951 N. Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34235.
