April is Green month on Main Street [paid advertisement]
Join Habitat for the most exciting month of activity on Main Street in years and it’s green! Free weekly events in Downtown New Rochelle will be held in April in celebration of Earth Day. Sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Westchester County, each highlights an aspect of green living or working where the community can engage, interact and enjoy.
Activities kick off on Sunday, April 12th at 2:00 pm, when Jay of A. Bulfamante & Son Landscaping explains how to grow your best garden and showcases the use of palate gardens for the urban dweller.
April 12th also begins the ‘Bike New Rochelle’ club bike ride. Leaving 659 Main Street at 9:00 am, the tour will make use of Habitat’s new bike racks. Participants will learn about the bike-able city movement, transportation options and ways to cut down on your monthly gas bill. (http://bit.ly/bikenewrochelle)
Habitat will host a Contractor’s Breakfast on Earth day, Wednesday, April 22nd from 7:30–9:00 am. Free and open to the public, the morning will include discussions from the area’s premier contractors on solar options for your home, easy green fixes for your older fixer-upper homes, and green building practices …plus a Green Discount all day long at all Habitat ReStore locations. It’s Millennials on Main Street on April 23rd. Join the new Habitat Young Professionals (HYP): Millennials on Main Street group, to be held at 7:00 pm. The end of April will also feature Salsa into Spring, with a benefit for Habitat of Westchester’s Green initiatives and community green rebuilding.
Part of Habitat of Westchester’s #30/30 campaign of transforming 30 neighborhoods for its 30th anniversary in 2018 is to help transform Main St–making it walkable and green, with the greenest retail store in the county: the Habitat ReStore Located at 659 Main Street New Rochelle.
