NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The games were so coveted that you had to buy tickets in advance, and the Gaels didn't disappoint, taking all three basketball games--freshman, junior varsity and varsity--from the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders in White Plains on Jan. 8
The freshman team won by 14 with a 55-41 victory that got the ball rolling. The JV continued its torrid streak, more than doubling the freshman win margin with a 36-point victory, 69-33. The Junior Varsity Basketball team is now 10-0 on the year.
The varsity game, however, was significantly tighter. Despite not having a lead until the final two minutes, the Gaels battled back to claim a 53-51 victory at Stepinac and retain its No. 1 ranking in The Journal News basketball rankings. The Gaels were led by Nick Brennen who had 13 points, Pat Fleming and Josh Alexander had 12 points also in the win.
