BobMarroneBob Marrone, former host of the Good Morning Westchester Radio Show on WVOX, will be returning to New Rochelle as the new Executive Director of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce.

"I am happy to be back involved in the New Rochelle community," said Marrone.

Marrone expressed his commitment to traditional Chamber events like the Women of Excellence Dinner and the Thanksgiving Parade but expressed a desire for greater outreach and promotion.

"We will have two goals, build our membership from both ends of the City and make the Chamber a more visible presence in the City," said Marrone.

Marrone cited the Latino community, especially in New Rochelle's West End, as an area of particular interest.

Marrone says official start date will be May 5th but he expects to be out in the community representing the Chamber sooner than that at an event next week at the Texas Roadhouse.

Frank Miceli, President of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, said the board was excited to have Marrone, a well-known personality in the Queen City, at the helm.

"I think Bob is the right guy to take the Chamber in the direction we are headed," said Miceli

Miceli said he was pleased that Eli Gordon, Marrone's predecessor, had put the Chamber on a sound financial footing. The next step in a revitalized Chamber will be in areas that play to Marrone's strengths in communications.

Marrone signed off WVOX in November of 2012 and has been working as a communications consultant for the last two years.

Marrone hosted Good Morning Westchester for 8 years, starting in 2004. Before that, Marrone worked at Time Warner Cable.

Prior to his radio career, Marrone worked on Wall Street specializing in corporate communications and training for organizations such as Merrill Lynch, Thomson Financial and the Securities Industry Association.

Marrone is on the faculty of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and the New York Institute of Finance.

He majored in Political Science at St. John’s University.

Marrone has won numerous awards including "Best Community Program" and "Best Spot News in New York State" from the New York State Broadcasters Association, 2008. March 5th, 2008 was declared Bob Marrone Day in honor of his persistent coverage of local and state affairs.

Title: Good Choice

I agree Anthony. Bob seems to have his priorities straight. Good luck - Starting on Cinco de Mayo seems appropriate.
