NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College baseball team fell 11-2 in non-conference action at Stony Brook Tuesday. The Seawolves scored six first inning runs and never looked back.

Rookie 2B Sean Breen went 2-for-3 with a walk and was the lone Gael with multiple hits. Freshman RF Fran Kinsey, senior SS Vinny DeMaria, junior 1B Lou Matarazzo, and rookie PH Clay Felice accounted for Iona's other hits. DeMaria had the team's lone extra base hit, a two-out double in the seventh.

Iona scored two in the sixth, on an error with senior DH Travis Mistretta at bat and an RBI hit by pitch by senior C Carmine Palummo.

Rookie RHP Antonio Velardi took the loss, tossing the game's first 3.1 innings.

Iona returns to North Carolina for the fourth straight weekend when they face UNC Wilmington for a three-game series beginning Friday.
