WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Stepinac High School and its athletic department have announced that the Iona Prep at Stepinac basketball game scheduled for Friday, January 5 at 7:30pm will be moved from Stepinac High School to the Westchester County Center. 

Stepinac will forgo its CHSAA ‘AA’ home game originally scheduled to be played at Stepinac to move to a larger venue. The game will be a marquee matchup of two of the best high school basketball programs not only in Westchester County but in the tri – state area. The first night game night will feature two talented Section 1 ‘A’ teams: Bryam Hills and Ardsley at 5pm. Doors for the doubleheader will open at 4pm.

Ardsley and Byram Hills are both predicted to compete for a Section 1 ‘A’ Championship. As for Stepinac and Iona Prep – the game will feature a combined 8 players with Division 1 offers. (Stepinac 5 and Iona Prep 3). Stepinac finished #1 in the 2017 News12 Hudson Valley Poll, #1 in the 2017 LoHud / Journal News Poll and Top 10 in the 2017 News12 Tri-State (NY, NJ, CT) Poll. Both games will be broadcast live on News12Varsity.

Last season (2016-2017) season the Iona Prep game at Stepinac sold out in one hour from the time tickets went on sale. Tickets will go on sale for this event starting Monday, December 5. Pre- Sale tickets will be available at all four schools (Stepinac, Iona Prep, Byram Hills and Ardsley). Students with a valid student ID can purchase tickets at one of the four schools in advance for $5 a ticket. Adults are $10 a ticket. Tickets will also be available at the Westchester County Center Box Office every Tuesday – Friday 10am – 4pm. All tickets (Adults and Students) at the County Center, including Game day will be $10.

Michael O’Donnell, Stepinac Athletic Director said: “This game will showcase two great programs in the CHSAA and Westchester county. We are excited for this opportunity not only for our basketball program but for the entire Stepinac community.”

This is one of the best high school basketball rivalries in New York and specifically Westchester County and to be able to showcase this game at such a historic venue is great for our student-athletes and the Stepinac community.”
