SAN DIEGO, CA — Member of the Iona Prep Track Team participated in the Mt. Carmel Invitational in San Diego, CA last week.

18 members of the team made the trip. The team took home two first-place finishes and six medals.

“This was arguably the best trip his team has ever taken,” said Iona Prep Head Coach Jan Mitchell.

Ryan Herrera-Murphy '15 won the pole vault with a clearing of 15 feet, 8 inches, which is the third-best ever in Westchester and second all-time at the Prep. Matt Fay '15, who has seemingly gone 1-2 with his teammate all season, was second at 15 feet, 2 inches, the sixth best in Westchester and third all-time at the Prep.

Andrew Cannistraci '16 threw the discus a 12-foot personal best of 149 feet, 8 inches to take third in the Discus after throw of 53 feet, 9 1/2 inches in the Championship Shot Put. Frankie Hagan '15 won his Division of the Shot Put with a personal best of 49 feet, 7 inches.

Obei Adubor '15 took fourth in the Triple Jump and Tom Samuelson '15 the same in the High Jump, both with personal best distances of 42 feet, 1 1/2 inches and 6 feet, respectively.

Iona Prep was the only school outside of California and Arizona to participate in the meet.
