James Nardozzi Obituary

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — James P. Nardozzi, 82, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, New York, died on April 21, 2016. Jim was a devoted and compassionate husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His life was guided by his faith. A Navy veteran and graduate of Iona College, Jim owned a retail paint business for twenty-five years and served as a benevolent landlord in New Rochelle. Sweet and silly, Jim approached life with playfulness and humor despite living with chronic neurological pain for over 30 years. Personal connections were central in his life, but Jim was also known to be an intrepid kayaker (reluctantly retired) and driver, ice cream fanatic, and renegade parking-lot bird feeder (whose seed concealment strategies eluded police detection).

Jim is survived by his three children, James C. Nardozzi, Gina Gunther (Scott), and Christopher Nardozzi (Hank Nourse); three granddaughters, Emily, Meghan, and Lauren Gunther; and two siblings, John Nardozzi (Nancy) and Marcella O’Shea. He hoped to be reunited with his beloved parents, Nicholas and Marcella, a wife he considered good as gold, Dorothy, an infant son Daniel, and sister Mary Hubley, all of whom predeceased him.

Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4:00-8:00pm at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday at 10:30am at Holy Family Church, and interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, whose doctors and nurses cared for James and comforted his family through a five-month convalescence.
