Everyone welcome on Thursday, May 14, 2015 7:00 p.m. at ReStore 659 Main Street, New Rochelle, NY.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- David McKay Wilson, Tax Watch columnist for The Journal News, will deliver a lecture on Common Core as part of the New Rochelle Lion’s Club Lecture Series. Wilson will consider whether the opt-out movement is a temporary fad or a genuine American Revolution.

The public is welcome.

Wilson has written extensively about Westchester County since 1986. His assignments have included City Hall in New Rochelle and White Plains, the Statehouse in Albany, County governments in Westchester and Putnam, as well as Education.

Wilson left the paper from 2007 to 2012 to launch his freelance writing business, which focused on writing about K-12 and higher education, including publications at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, Teachers College at Columbia, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. His work also appeared in LION magazine, from 2010 to 2013, with stories on the Lions Club’s efforts in the Hudson Valley following the Sept. 11th attacks, the support of service dogs for wounded veterans on Long Island, a Leo club at a secure juvenile detention center in New Jersey, and ways that Lions Clubs around the world have re-energized their chapters.

New Rochelle Lion’s Club Lecture Series is presented by The New Rochelle Lions Club in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Westchester
