Madeline Rispoli Obituary

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Madeline (Buonocore) Rispoli, 84, a longtime resident of Tappan and New Rochelle, NY and currently of Pine Bush, NY passed away quietly on Thursday, October 15, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in the Bronx, NY on July 7, 1931 to Carmela DelGrosso and Ernest Buonocore.

After graduating from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, in 1949, she married Ralph O. Rispoli. She and Ralph initially settled in post World War II Camp Shanks, Tappan, NY where they raised their eight children.

Madeline was not only a vibrant active member of this burgeoning community involved in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Camp Venture and CYO, but took on a more vocal role when she became involved in the Right to Life movement, making many trips every January to Washington, D.C. to stand up for women and the life of all unborn children.

After her responsibilities at home lessened and her children were grown she sought after and achieved one of her early life’s dreams obtaining her Baccalaureate degree from Iona College in New Rochelle graduating Magnum Cum Laude. Her new career path took her to where her heart always was, working with children. She became a court liaison between juvenile and their families, advocating for them in the court systems. When she retired from that position, she began to work with senior citizens, again caring for those in need.

Some of her many creative talents such as story-telling and writing, interior design, fashion and culinary arts was always generously shared with her family and friends. She loved learning and teaching what she learned.

Among her many talented grandchildren she has two grandsons who continued in her Scouting tradition and are Eagle Scouts and one granddaughter who is a candidate for Gold award in Girl Scouting.

She was predeceased by her oldest son Vincent. She is survived by seven of her eight children, Annette Rispoli Rein, Ernest Rispoli, Camille Rispoli Taylor, Maryann Rispoli Baietti, Damien Rispoli, Michael Rispoli, Joseph Rispoli, thirty-four grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who are expected by the end of this year and early next year, two brothers, Theodore Buonocore and Dominic Buonocore and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews in New York and Italy.

Visiting will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church in Tappan, NY. Interment will follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY.
