NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Mariano Riviera is in Tampa at the Yankees Spring Training camp. The North Avenue Church has yet to open. Last fall, I spoke with Mariano who said the plan was to open the new church before he went south with the Yankees. Looks like we will have to wait until the Yankees head north in April.
Riviera, asked about progress at the North Avenue Church told Talk of the Sound that working was proceeding rapidly.
"We hope to be ready to open in February," said Rivera who expects to report for spring training with the Yankees by mid-February.

Mo's opened during a recession and NYC has the advantage of millions in foot traffic. The restaurant business is a tough business, it has nothing to do with New Rochelle.
