NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College men's basketball team picked up an important league win over Globe Tech on Tuesday, defeating the Knights, 94-66.  Shackquiel Scott was one of three Mustangs to finish in double-figures in scoring.

Monroe got show their new playing style at home for the first time on Tuesday, as head coach Jeff Brustad looked more like a hockey coach, subbing in reinforcements five at a time.  The two "teams" really gelled well and nearly broke the century mark.

The Mustangs got off to a hot start, taking a ten point lead when Will Tavares dunk off a Felix Carlsson steal.  The lead got as large as 23 points in the first half when Ran Tut dunked home a shot to make the score 50-27, which is where is stayed for halftime.

A highlight reel play came in the second half when Scott dunked an alley-oop pass from Tyler Ancrum to put the Mustangs up, 56-29.  The largest lead of the game was 34 points when Charles Wingate found Carlsson who connected on a three-pointer with 2:30 remaining to make the score 94-60.  Monroe went on to win 94-66.

Scott finished with 17 points on 5-7 shooting.  Tavares and Tut combined for an 11-17 night and totaled 16 points each.  Monroe dished out 21 assists while committing just 11 turnovers.  The team returns to action on Thursday, January 28, when they face ASA College in Brooklyn at 8:00 PM.
