New Rochelle Bartender Threatens Revoluion

The Journal News’ Phil Reisman ponders the decision of Nyack to ban booze after 10:00 p.m. New Rochelle’s own James O’Toole opines:

Dunne’s Pub in White Plains is a classic corner bar. James O’Toole, the bartender, told me that business has spiked since Sandy.

“You know what’s happening?” he bellowed over the din. “People are just walking down the hill — they’re coming to the place just to get a buzz on so they can go to sleep because there’s no TV, no nothing.

“They’re going stir crazy. So what do you do? You gotta have a drink and get something to eat.”

O’Toole said a temporary alcohol ban would not be tolerated on this side of the river. “If they did that here, there would be a revolution,” he said.
