New Rochelle Firefighters Rally Around Injured Widow

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — One minute, Charlotte Grady, widow of New Rochelle Firefighter Marty Grady, was enjoying a cruise. The next, she was paralyzed, having tripped falling face-first into a wall. To make matters worse, after being flown to Florida, there is no insurance money left for the air ambulance required to transport her home.

When we heard that one of our own was in need, it didn’t matter that he retired 19 years ago, passed away months after, and most members had never met him, we did our job as we always do – to make the best out of a terrible situation.

The Charlotte Grady Fund has been set up to receive tax-exempt donations to get Charlotte home and receiving the care she desperately needs, 100% of which will go to the Grady family (the family has also set up a web donation, but 7.9% goes to the site, and we want them to get every penny for Charlotte’s care).

If you want to help, make your check out to “NR Holy Name Society”, with “Charlotte Grady Fund” in the memo.

New Rochelle Fire Chief Louis DiMeglio has graciously offered to receive the donations at Fire Headquarters, so send to:
