Car Missing from Nissan Dealership for Weeks: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at the Nissan Dealership on Palmer Avenue on July 28th.

Complainant stated that one vehicle was stolen from the lot. He said the last time he saw the car was two weeks ago. He waited to report the vehicle stolen because he checked the other lots several times and asked other employees to see if they knew where the car was located. Complainant stated that there were no surveillance cameras in the area where the vehicle was parked, the vehicle did not have any tracking mechanism and the dealership does not keep records of who moves cars on a daily basis.

Boy Cannot Explain Why He Stole Men’s Clothes: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a larceny at the Marshalls/Home Goods Store on Petersville Road on July 28th.

Complainant stated that he observed two boys walk into the store, go to the men’s department and place assorted items into their pockets then walked out of the store without paying for the items. A store employee confronted the two boys. The first boy fled, leaving behind a bicycle, the second was taken back to the security office. The second boy said his friend told him to do it, that he knew that it was wrong and did not why he did it.

The second boy was picked up at police headquarters by his father and grandmother.

Glenwood Lake Pot Bust: New Rochelle police responded to ongoing complaints of disorderly groups loitering at Glenwood Lake for the purpose of using drugs by increasing patrols in that area.

Police conducting a “park and walk” at about 10:30 p.m. on July 27th encountered three parties sitting on a rock about 30 feet from the Glenwood Lake trail. Police observed a ziplock bag containing buds of marijuana on the ground by their feet as well as rolling paper. The three parties also possessed an open bottle of red wine.

The three people stated that they came to Glenwood Lake to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol. One of the three claimed ownership of the marijuana.

Thomas White, 22, of Gramercy Place, was arrested by the New Rochelle police for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation, on July 27th.

Burglar Steals Jewelry and Silverware: New Rochelle Police responded to the report of a burglary on Argyll Avenue in New Rochelle on July 27th.

Complainant stated that she left home home at 12:45 p.m. on July 27th and returned at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon. She said she discovered her home had been burglarized. She called her husband and they called the police at 6:04 p.m.

Entry appears to have been a rear door, possibly left unlocked. Jewelry and silverware was taken. DNA samples were taken from a drawer that was opened in the master bedroom and a tin jewelry box that the suspects had touched. There are no suspects.

Elderly Woman Subjected to Credit Card Fraud:  New Rochelle Police responded to a walk-in report of credit card fraud on July 28th.

Complainant stated that her elderly mother who stays at a nursing home received 4 credit cards in the mail, two from American Express and two from Capitol One. One of the American Express cards had the name of a person unknown the complainant or her mother. In the mail there was also a change of address order from the Post Office requesting mail be forwarded to an address in Brooklyn. Neither the complainant nor her mother applied for any credit cards or applied for a change of address.

Pay Pal Fraud at Trump Plaza: New Rochelle police responded to a report of fraud and identify theft at the Trump Plaza apartments in New Rochelle on July 28th.

Complainant stated that someone had used her personal information to generate a fraudulent Pay Pay account. She said she attempted to create a Pay Pal account two weeks earlier but did not complete the full registration or submit the application. She then received a printed letter from Pay Pal advising her they would unable to authorize her account due to the lack of personal information. A week later she received a billing statement with a balance of $1,252.33. Pay Pal flagged the charges and advised her to report the matter to the police. Police advised her to contact the three credit bureaus and check her credit and dispute any fraudulent charges.

Cell Phone Sink Swipe at Halstead: New Rochelle Police received a walk-in complaint of a past larceny on July 29th.

Complaint stated that after swimming in the pool at the Halstead New Rochelle Metro North he went to the restroom where he placed his cell phone on the sink. When he returned to the sink the phone was missing. He said the only person in the restroom was a Male/Black 5’ 10” weighing 250 pounds wearing a white t-shirt.

Man Caught Passing Counterfeit Twenty at Mini-Mart: New Rochelle Police received a complaint of counterfeit currency at a Mini-Mart on 4th Street in New Rochelle on July 27th.

Complainant stated at about noon on July 27th a man attempted to pay for coffee and a Backwood Cigar with a counterfeit $20 bill. He said the suspect frequents the store but he does not know his name.

Complainant said he used a counterfeit money detector pen and the mark showed the bill was fake. He told the suspect that the bill was fake and argued with him for approximately 5 minutes until the suspect finally left. As the suspect was leaving he intentionally pushed the door open hard, causing the glass to hit the outside brick wall, which cracked the the bottom half of the glass door.

The suspect, wanted for Possession of a Forged Instrument and Criminal Mischief, was described as being a heavy set male black with dark skin, approximately 5’9″ with a beard and wearing a light blue/gray shirt. The business does have surveillance video.

Shoplifter Makes Off with 14 Deodorant Sticks from CVS: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a Larceny at the CVS at 222 North Avenue on July 27th.

Complaint, the store manager, stated that he was notified by a customer that a black male was placing merchandise into a blue shopping bag in the deodorant aisle. As he approached the aisle he observed a section of deodorants, which were recently stocked, completely missing and observed the black male with a blue bag walking away. He followed the unknown male who exited the rear exit of the store passing all points of purchase with the blue bag containing the merchandise. While in the rear parking lot the unknown the black male observed the complainant following him, dropped the bag of merchandise and fled onto Lawton Street heading towards Huguenot Street. All the merchandise stolen, including 14 Dove Deodorants, was recovered.

The suspect was described as a male black, approximately 40 to 50 years of age wearing a dark brown shirt, khaki shorts, khaki Kangol hat, dark sunglasses and white and black sneakers. A DVD of the security footage showed the black male entering the rear entrance/ exit of the store shortly before 6:00 p.m. with no bag in his hands and exiting moments later with a blue shopping bag, not a CVS bag.

Car Stolen on Mayflower: New Rochelle Police responded to a reported car theft on Mayflower Avenue in New Rochelle on July 28th.

Complainant stated that she parked her vehicle in front of her residence, locked and secure, at about 5:00 p.m. on July 28th. At about 8:00 p.m. she observed her vehicle to be missing She said she  canvassed the area and contacted her friends/family in an attempt to locate her vehicle without success. The vehicle has lo-jack.
