Detective Luigi Amico was appointed to the Department in July 2002. After serving as a Sector Officer, he has most recently been assigned to the Special Operations Critical Incident Unit. He is the recipient of the Police Commissioners Award, two Class C Citations, five Commendation Awards and a 4 Year Perfect Attendance Award. Detective Dwayne Jones was appointed to the Department in July 2010. After serving as a Sector Officer, he was assigned to the Special Investigations Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division. Detective Jones is the recipient of the Police Commissioner’s Award, two Class Citations, a Unit Citation, two Lifesaver of the Year Awards, seven Commendation Awards, the New Rochelle Municipal Housing Authority Recognition Award, has been recognized as Police Officer of the Month on Four occasions, and was the Dept’s Police Officer of the Year for 2014. He is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Obviously, he has been a prolific worker, and it is not common for an Officer to be promoted to Detective within five years of starting his career. Detective Jones.
Detective John Ladeairous was appointed to the Department in August 2007. After serving as a Sector Officer, he has most recently been assigned to the Special Operations Critical Incident Unit. Detective Ladeairous is a NYS Certified firearms Instructor, a General topics instructor and a Field Training Officer. He is the recipient of the Police Commissioners Award, four Class C Citations, a Lifesaving Award, the Problem Solving Award, a Commendation Award, was twice recognized as Police Officer of Month, and was the Dept’s Police Officer of the Year for 2013. Prior to being appointed to the Dept, Detective Ladeairous graduated from the Marine Military Academy and served in the United States Marine Corps. Sergeant Lawrence Bornholz was appointed to the Department in February 2004. He was assigned to patrol in the Police Services Division, and has recently been a member of the Special Operations Critical Incident Unit. Sergeant Bornholz has served as a Field Training Officer, has received advanced training in specialized weapons and tactics, and is a certified Emergency Psychology Technician. Sergeant Bornholz is the recipient of the Police Commissioners Award, 2 Commendation Awards, and the Lifesaver of the Year Award in 2013. Sergeant Christopher Castiglia was appointed to the Department in August 2004. He has served in the Police Services Division as a Sector Officer, and is a NYS certified Field Training Officer. Prior to becoming a Police officer, Sergeant Castiglia taught 9th grade global studies and 11thgrade American history at Iona Preparatory School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Manhattan College. Lieutenant Edward Hayes was appointed to the Department in November 1990. He was promoted to Sergeant in February 2011. Lieutenant Hayes is a certified NYS Police Instructor, holds a Bachelors Degree from Mercy College and in 2002 earned a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law . Lieutenant Robert Wenzler was appointed to the Department in August 2004. He served in patrol, where he was a Field Training Officer, and was also a member of the Critical Incident Unit. Lieutenant Wenzler is a certified Emergency Psychology Technician. He was promoted to Sergeant in September 2013. He is the recipient of the Police Commissioners Award, 4 Class C Citations, 2 Lifesaving Awards and was named Police Officer of the Year for 2009. Captain Adrian Navarrete was appointed to the Department in January 1998 and promoted to Sergeant in July 2011. He served in the Police Services Division and was then promoted to Lieutenant in August 2013. During the last year, Captain Navarrete has served in the Staff Services Division as the Executive Officer and as the Department’s Training Director. He is a certified NYS Police Instructor, as well as a Firearms Instructor, and has attended numerous courses related to special weapons and tactics. Captain Navarrete is the recipient of the Police Commissioners Award, 3 Class C Citations and a Commendation Award. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Science from Iona College. Deputy Commissioner Joseph Schaller was appointed to the Department in August 1974. He was promoted to Sergeant in September 1979. In 1981 he graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy. Deputy Commissioner Schaller was promoted to Lieutenant in August 1982 and In May 1988 he was promoted to Captain. As Captain, he has been the Commanding Officer of the Staff Services Division, the Police Services Division and has been the Commanding Officer of the Criminal Investigations since 2002. He is the recipient of the Police Commissioners Award, two Class C Citations, Three Special Incident Citations and a Five Year Perfect Attendance Award. Deputy Commissioner Schaller holds a Bachelors Degree in History and Political Science from Fordham University , a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Iona College and a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in 2005. He was admitted in the NYS Bar in 2006. With the recent retirement of Deputy Commissioner Anthony Murphy, Deputy Commissioner Schaller now holds the distinction of having served longer than any member in the history of the Department, 41 years and 4 months.
