New Rochelle Police Investigating Homicide

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police responded last night to multiple calls of a disturbance at 138 Winthrop Avenue. Arriving units located a man in his 50’s with a serious stab wound to his chest in front of 138 Winthrop Avenue. The male was transported by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where he subsequently died from the wound at approximately 1 a.m.

Responding police units also located a woman in her 30’s in the vicinity believed to be a participant in this incident.

There are no suspects at large. The participants were known to each other.

The name of the male is not being released pending notification of his next of kin. The name of the female is not being released because she has not been charged with any crime thus far.

UPDATE: Jonitha Alston, 30, was charged with first-degree manslaughter in the death of Dennis Graham, 60.

Sources tell Talk of the Sound that Alston is claiming “self-defense”.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the New Rochelle Police Department Detective Division, the New York City Medical Examiners Office and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
