New Rochelle Youth Bureau’s Summer Employment Programs celebrated another successful completion of its Network Youth Leadership Program and TANF Summer Youth Employment Program.
The Network Youth Leadership Program provides youths, ages 14 years to 17 years, with job readiness skills training and actual work experience. The program operates for six weeks during July and August. Stipend payments in the amount of $145.00 per week are based on twenty hours a week program participation. Fifty-five percent of program participants must meet income eligibility guidelines.
The TANF Summer Youth Employment Program, supported by the Westchester/Putnam Local Workforce Investment Board, employs income eligible 14 years to 18 years current high school students. The program operate for six weeks. Rate of pay is $7.25 per hour, 5 hours per day. All youth must meet TANF income guidelines.
Worksite sponsors were recognized. Among them Bob Marrone representing the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Patti Romeo representing the City of New Rochelle and Kathy Umbro representing the City School District of New Rochelle.
The event was emceed by Kelly Johnson, Executive Director of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau. Students, sponsors and administrators enjoyed a luncheon in the City Hall rotunda catered by AJ's Burgers.
