It should be increasingly obvious that if New Rochelle veterans came up with a method of turning the Armory's red bricks into gold bars, Mayor Noam Bramson would be opposed.
It did not take our new development commissioner long to join Bramson's jihad against the Vets. Having come on board just in time to see the Mayor's Good Profit Works fall apart, Luiz Aragon will come forward at Tuesday's City Council meeting with the following:
RECOMMENDATION: There are many acceptable avenues leading to the generation of a proposal for the Armory site.
However, since the May 2012 attempt only generated two proposals which severely limited our choices, it would be prudent to consider a different approach to expand our vision and entice new and innovative proposals from a larger number of interested parties.
It is recommended by the Department of Development that the City of New Rochelle consider issuing a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFI) for the Armory site in the near future. The responses to the RFI should be considered and analyzed through the creation of a larger and more global urban development plan in order to better define the best programmatic use for the Armory site.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
