New Rochelle Woman Pleads Guilty: Drove Drunk, Ran Redlights, Crashed Car, Bit Witness, Fled Scene, Busted by NRPD, YPD

sarena walsh.jpgWestchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Sarena Walsh, 26, of 255 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle, New York, plead guilty today to four counts of a multi-count indictment including one count of Vehicular Assault in the First Degree, a class “D” Felony, one count of Driving While Intoxicated after a previous conviction, a class “E” Felony, one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident with an Injury Without Reporting, a class “E” Felony, one count of Attempted Assault in the Third Degree, a class “B” Misdemeanor.

On September 28, 2009, at approximately 10:00 p.m., in the vicinity of Central Park Avenue and Underhill Street in Yonkers, the defendant, drove through two red lights, striking the victim’s vehicle on the driver’s side pushing the victim’s vehicle about fifty feet before coming to a halt.

The defendant exited her vehicle, took the keys threw them up in the air and fled the scene on foot. A witness attempted to stop the defendant but was unsuccessful, as the defendant bit him in the arm in order to get away.

The defendant subsequently entered another vehicle and fled the scene.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department arrived on the scene and observed that the victim needed immediate medical assistance, as the victim had lost consciousness, and was immediately transported to the Westchester Medical Center. As a result of the accident, the victim suffered numerous injuries including a broken pelvis, broken arm, and a broken leg.

Upon further investigation, the Yonkers police ascertained that the vehicle the defendant drove was registered to her boyfriend.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department then responded to the defendant’s boyfriend’s residence, in New Rochelle, whereupon the defendant’s boyfriend agreed to go to the Yonkers Police Station to give a statement.

Upon observing her boyfriend leave with the Yonkers police, the defendant became enraged, began cursing at the police and attempted to prevent the police from leaving by lying on the hood of a police vehicle. The defendant was then placed under arrest by members of the New Rochelle Police Department.

Yonkers police responded to the New Rochelle Police Department where they arrested the defendant.

Sentencing will be on January 21st, 2011.

The defendant faces a maximum of two and one third to seven years in state prison.

Assistant District Attorney Nadine Nagler of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuting the case.

    1. She was busted for Cocaine Possession in Florida Last May
      No Facebook Friends List but she was arrested BEFORE and AFTER the Yonkers/New Ro incidents…mostly recent in FLA.

      It is tough to make Facebook friends when you keep bouncing in and out of jail.

      In any case, it is hardly relevant since Sarena Walsh is not a public employee and certainly not in charge of all of the school buses the operate in the public school system as is the case with Diane Wessel, who (not surprisingly for the New Rochelle school system) still retains her job despite her criminal past).
