Nicolina Sylvester “Nikki” Shelton, Writer, Choirist

Nicolina “Nikki” Sylvester Shelton, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on April 15, 2013. She was 85.

Nikki was born on November 29, 1927 in New Rochelle to the late Angelo and Filomena (Loungo) Silvestro. She graduated from Albert Leonard High School and was a writer who enjoyed penning articles about her travels and famous people she encountered. She was a longtime member of the Holy Name Choir.

She is survived by her sisters, Ann Bernabei of New Rochelle and Marie Costanza of the Bronx; several nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews and many friends, cousins and extended family members and her longtime companion Ross Grasso. She was predeceased by her sister Rose Marie Sylvester.

Visiting will be Thursday 4-7pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle, NY. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday 10:30 am at Holy Name Church. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery.
