NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The No. 5 Iona College men's cross country team finished fifth overall at the 2015 Wisconsin Adidas Invitational Friday afternoon at the Thomas Zimmer XC Course. The Gaels finished behind No. 2 Syracuse, No. 9 BYU, No. 8 Michigan, and No. 7 Virginia in what has become one the sport's premiere regular season races.

Sophomore Chartt Miller was the Gaels top performer, finishing eighth overall and completing the 8,000-meter course in 23:44.7. Junior Kieran Clements was Iona's second finisher in 21st place in 23:53.5. Senior Michael O'Dowd finished 32nd (24:02.2) while sophomore Gilbert Kirui (24.25.8) and freshman Liam Dee (24:31.3) rounded out the Maroon & Gold scorers.

Syracuse won the team event with 102 points and three Top 10 performers. BYU followed with 187 while Michigan posted 221 and Virginia 240. Iona was fifth with 270 while No. 17 North Carolina State, No. 24 Furman, Tulsa, No. 20 UCLA and No. 28 Columbia rounded out the top 10. There were 17 ranked programs and 10 others receiving votes in the 36-team race field.

Tulsa's Marc Scott took the individual title in 23:35.0, just over nine seconds faster than Miller's time.

The split-squad Gaels are in action tomorrow at Layfette's Leopard Invitational.
