John Lennon passed away peacefully at home August 27, 2012 at the age of 89. He will be remembered most for his smile- he always had one.

John was born to Molly and John Lennon on November 9, 1922 in New Rochelle, New York.

He lived through the depression, formed enduring friendships and met his future wife, Maura Jackson, who lived on his paper route.

John was generous, loyal and brave. A member of the “greatest generation.” He served proudly as a technical sergeant in the Second World War in the 386th Anti-Aircraft Division, Battery D. After the war, John graduated from the Chicago Television Institute where he trained for a lifelong career in television. He never missed a day of work for the nearly forty years at Columbia Broadcasting Station (CBS), a job he truly loved.

John’s life was enhanced by his dogged pursuit of having a good time. He also loved his many summers, vacationing in Cape Cod. He married Maura Jackson in 1953 with whom he had four children. They moved to Mamaroneck in 1959. He loved the friendly village and served it well through his volunteer work at LMC-TV, the Emelin Theatre, the American Legion Post 90 and as an usher at Holy Trinity Church. He was particularly fond of the Mamaroneck Senior Center where he enjoyed the company of his many close friends. John was beloved by his grandchildren with whom he could be found playing a game, pushing on a swing, or blowing a bubble.

He will be remembered by his children, with his head over a car engine or for his love of history, music and art. He is survived by his four children John (Gail), Chris (Kim), Claire and Leah (Tom) and his seven grandchildren Rachel, Aaron, Sheila, Charlotte, Emma, Tommy and Mike. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERALHOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck. 914-698-5968. Funeral Mass Friday 10am at Most Holy Trinity Church, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. To place an online condolence, please visit www.coxeandgraziano.com
