NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police have arrested a Salesian High School student after threatening to shoot students and staff at the school.

The New Rochelle Police Department released a statement moments ago:

On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, the New Rochelle Police Department was made aware that on Friday, Oct 6th one Salesian High School student made threatening remarks to another Salesian High School student.  Specifically, the student threatened that he was going to “shoot-up” the school.  Upon our investigation, it was learned that the student did not have access to weapons, and had already been suspended by the school’s administration.

After consulting with the New Rochelle District Attorney’s office, police detectives arrested the student, a 16 year old New Rochelle resident, and charged him with Making Terroristic Threats, a class D felony.

This remains an active investigation, anyone with information is asked to contact the New Rochelle Police Department’s General Investigations Unit at 914-654-2270.

As first reported on Talk of the Sound, Salesian High School was closed Thursday. The school was closed to students again on Friday but staff were at the school.
