Olivia Moxey, a sixth-grade student at Albert Leonard Middle School, has won the 2016 Earth Day Poster Contest.

Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the New York State Senate Democratic Conference leader, visited Albert Leonard Middle School recently to congratulate Olivia.

“Olivia’s colorful and thoughtful message to recycle and ‘save the earth’ is one that we should all embrace,” Stewart-Cousins said.

“I congratulate Olivia and all of the participants in this year’s contest. I also commend the parents and teachers for their involvement and efforts to encourage our children to be creative and environmentally conscious,” she added.

About 120 students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade from the 35th district  entered the contest. This year’s theme was “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”
