New Rochelle, NY – February 2, 2012 – Sound Shore Medical Center’s Medical Residents frequently produces quality research that is selected for presentation at scientific meetings. Such was the case for second-year resident, Jennifer Poste, MD. Recently, she was in Barcelona, Spain to attend the World Congress on Debates & Consensus in Bone, Muscle & Joint Diseases where she presented her Abstract, “Molecular Genetics in the Diagnosis of Calpainopathy”. Even more impressive, Dr. Poste returned from the four-day event as the recipient of the Young Scientist Award. This award is presented by the Scientific Committee of The World Congress to physicians, scientists or researchers age 34 or under for the quality of their research. Winning the award confirms the merit of Dr. Poste’s medical research and showcases the quality of the SSMC Medical Residency Program and its faculty.

As a major teaching affiliate of New York Medical College, Sound Shore Medical Center is actively engaged in preparing the next generation of physicians. Part of that preparation includes encouraging residents to submit their research for publication and presentation at scientific meetings. Medical papers and their abstracts (a synopsis of the research or case studies) are central to the advancement of medical research internationally. So having one’s medical research deemed sufficiently important for presentation is an honor.

Dr. Poste is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California-San Diego where she was a Howard Hughes Scholar and winner of two research grants. She received her Medical Surgeon degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara – Hospital Angel Leano. Dr. Poste, who is from San Pedro, CA, is published and has previously presented at national scientific meetings.
