Storms rip through New Rochelle

Heavy rain and strong winds came through New Rochelle early Saturday evening and early Sunday morning causing many trees and power lines to come down.Power was out in many north end neighborhoods as well as south end neighborhoods. The fire department and police department were kept busy by wires down and trees down all over the city. The weather service said by 11:30pm we had well over a inch of rain with more than 2 more inches due by sunrise Sunday.Almost every parkway across westchester was flooded.The major airports in the area reported up to 3 hour delays.Be careful when driving do not go through deep puddles of water and do not cross areas that are blocked off by yellow police tape.
