NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A Texas man is facing multiple charges after he fled from Westchester County Police this morning, leading to an accident involving a police vehicle.
Dave Wright, 43, of Dallas was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, a felony, and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving and Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, misdemeanors.
The incident began about 11:10 a.m. when a county police officer attempted to stop Wright’s vehicle for speeding on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle. Rather than pull over, Wright drove faster and then exited the parkway at North Avenue. As the officer pursued Wright’s vehicle, his police car was struck by another car, causing minor injuries to the officer.
A description of Wright’s vehicle was broadcast over police radio.
New Rochelle Police responded to a request for assistance by closing off North Avenue and sending patrol cars into the North End of New Rochelle.
Eastchester Police stopped the vehicle at Alida and Brook Streets in Eastchester and turned Wright over to county police.
Wright will be arraigned tomorrow in New Rochelle City Court.
