Three Women’s Lacrosse Gaels Earn All-MAAC Honors

EDISON, NJ – Three members of the Iona College lacrosse team were named to All-MAAC teams for their performances during the 2015 season. Junior attack Mary Kate McCormick was named to the All-MAAC Second Team, while freshman defender Gabriella Di Domizio and attack Jenna Tolzmann were named to the All-Rookie Team.

McCormick posted a team-high 60 points on the season for the Gaels, on 29 goals and 31 assists. The 31 helpers set a single-season record for Iona, while she became the third player to record at least 60 points in a campaign.

DiDomizio appeared in all 17 games for the Maroon & Gold, making 13 starts along the backline. DiDomizio picked up 24 ground balls, and caused a team best 20 turnovers.

Tolzmann posted eight goals in her first season with Iona, and picked up 29 ground balls, second on the squad. The rookie also registered 10 draw controls and caused 12 turnovers.

Additionally, 11 of Iona’s eligible student-athletes were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. McCormick was recognized along with seniors Blaire Nathanson and Meghan Testoni, junior Hannah Fasano, Thea Leitman and Michelle Whitham, and sophomores Grace Celona, Zoe Mazzulli, Erin Pugh, Brianne Towey and Kristian Wasdick.
