Volleyball Splits 2-2 at Skidmore Tournament

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Volleyball team headed up to Saratoga Springs, NY for the Skidmore College Tournament, September 29 - 30. The Blue Angels split the weekend going 2-2 over their four matches.

CNR 3 - Sage 1

The first match match was on Friday afternoon against the Sage Gators. The match went to four sets with CNR securing the win, 25-22, 25-18, 24-26, and 25-15. Sophomore Cristal Michelle Liciaga (San Juan, P.R.) recorded her third triple double of the season earning 15 kills, 16 assists, and 10 digs. Freshman Shelby McLean (Lexington, KY) had the best hitting percentage with a stellar .471 and 8 kills.

CNR 3 - Lasell 1

The second match on Friday was versus the Lasell College  Boomers. The Blue Angels recorded their second four set win for the day, 25-23, 27-25, 21-25, and 25-8. Sophomores Cristal Michelle Liciaga (San Juan, P.R.) and Imani DeBose (Carson, CA) led the match in total kills. Liciaga recorded a career high 21 kills while DeBose had 13 kills on the match.

CNR 0 - Skidmore 3

The tournament continued on Saturday morning with a match against the host team. The Blue Angels were not able to keep up with the Thoroughbreds losing in three straight sets, 22-25, 10-25, and 18-25. The match stayed close in the first set, but Skidmore ran away with the game early in the second set taking a lead that CNR could not come back from.

CNR 0 - Hunter 3 

The last match of the weekend was against Hunter College Hawks. The Hawks swept the Blue Angels in three straight sets, 23-25, 11-25, and 20-25. Senior Middle Blocker Tamara Beckford (Bronx, NY) led the Blue Angels at the net recording 9 kills and 4 blocks.

Sophomore Cristal Michelle Liciaga was selected to the All-Tournament Team. She recorded 49 kills, 47 assists, 9 aces, and 31 digs over the four matches.
