NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- William C. Mutschler, 73, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away on June 26, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born in 1943 in Berwyn, Illinois to the late William J. and Miriam Miller Mutschler. During adolescence, Bill moved from Illinois to Mamaroneck, NY, where he graduated from Mamaroneck High School. He received a BA from Rider University and an MA from Fairfield University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

In 1977, Bill married his bride, Elizabeth McGuirl of Pelham Manor, whom he described as "the anchor of his life, who gave him the freedom to live it." They settled in New Rochelle, where they enjoyed raising their two children, the pride of their lives, Joanna and George.

Bill was fortunate enough to earn his living doing what he loved in the advertising and marketing fields. He spent time in account management working for business-to-business advertising agencies: Wilson, Haight & Welch; Ries Cappiello & Colwell; and Poppe Tyson. He also sold commercial printing and radio airtime. His most recent position was in new business development for ESM Van & Storage in Mount Vernon.

Bill was a lifelong learner, a social man, who was well informed on all topics and could talk to anyone. He was a creative soul, who enjoyed his friends, vacationing in Florida, fishing and the outdoors. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his conversation skills, his willingness to help others, and his enduring love for his family.

Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Mutschler, his son George Mutschler, his daughter Joanna and her husband Matthew Berenson, and their children Jack (5) and Myles (3), to whom he will always be their 'Poppy Tools.' He is also survived by his younger brother John and Carolyn Mutschler, his nephew Andrew and Jamie Mutschler, and their three children, along with the many extended family members who loved him.

A celebration of Bill's life will take place on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 83 Clove Rd. in New Rochelle, NY on Wednesday June 29 at 10:30 am. Internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne, NY.
