William J. Irwin (1920 – 2013)

William J. Irwin, age 92, died on January 7, 2013. A lifelong resident of New Rochelle, he was born on June 18, 1920 to Edward Irwin and Helen Klotz Irwin.

Mr. Irwin was a graduate of New Rochelle High School, where he met the former Geraldine Kelly, to whom he was married on September 18, 1943. He worked for over four decades in automobile sales as a salesman, sales manager, and general manager at various dealerships in the metropolitan area. Mr. Irwin lived for sixty years at the White Oak Co-Op in New Rochelle, where he served as member, vice president, and president of the co-op board. He owned a second home at Captain Gosnold Village in Hyannis, Massachusetts, where he served on the condominium board of directors.

A long-time parishioner and usher at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle, he was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine and his brother Edward Irwin. He is survived by his sister Jane Trainor, his sister Ellen McKinney, his daughter Patricia Sheerin, his grandson Christopher Sheerin, and his son-in-law William Sheerin.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, 10:30 AM, at Holy Family Church. Interment will follow at the Cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre in New Rochelle.
