New Rochelle Man Arrested on Child Porn, Weapons Charges After Raid Near Webster Magnet School; Brother of Convicted Sex Offende

Anthony J. Sanfratello.jpgThe New York State Police at Hawthorne arrested Anthony J. Sanfratello, 58, of New Rochelle, NY for Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, an E Felony.

The arrest follows a four month investigation which began after State Police received a tip to the Internet Crimes Against Children center in Albany. Police raided Sanfratello's home at 48 Westminster Court in New Rochelle, NY. A forensic examination if his computer led police to identify several child pornography images on his computer. Police also found a set of brass knuckles, a stun gun, and a switchblade knife and have charged Sanfratello with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree. Sanfratello will be arraigned in the City of New Rochelle Court.

The AT&T phone directory lists Anthony Sanfratello at 48 Westminster Court. Calls to the number at that address went unanswered.

A search of Google Map shows that 48 Westminster Court is on property adjacent to two schools, Daniel Webster Magnet School
and the Westchester Area School. School Board member Jerome Smith owns a home at 37 Watkins Place, just a few houses over from the building where Sanfratello's lives.

Joseph Sanfratello, the suspect's younger brother is a convicted Level 2 Sex Offender also of New Rochelle. Joseph was convicted in 1994 on charges of Sodomy in the 2nd degree. His victim was an 11 year old girl. He received a 1-3 year sentence in State prison.

According to the New York State sex offender registry, Joseph Sanfratello's last reported address is 10 Alpha Place, near the New Rochelle Marina and just six blocks from Trinity Elementary School. Hudson Park is also nearby.
